Group Formats

In-Person groups

Meet at East End CHC 1619 Queen Street East (at Coxwell Ave). Registration is required as there is room capacity limit. Mask are now optional.

Hybrid groups

Meet virtually over zoom and in person at the Centre at the same time. Registration is required as there is room capacity limit for the in-person group.

Virtual groups

Meet on Zoom and requires access to an electronic device (computer, phone, or tablet) and a WIFI connection.

Improve stability and build your strength to reduce fall risks. Join us on Thursdays from 12:00 – 1:00 PM and get weekly home exercises. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Learn eating principles for bone and joint health, including nutrition recommendations for prevention and management of common bone and joint health conditions, like osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Join us on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM.

Living with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes? Join DECNET – Diabetes Education Community Network of East Toronto. Learn about diabetes, mental health and well-being. Share experiences and support peers in a safe welcoming environment. Monday Aug. 12th, Sept. 9th, Oct. 7th, Nov. 4th, Dec. 2nd, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM.

Is life making you feel anxious? Want tools to help you reduce your anxiety? Join us on the 4th Wednesday of the month (June 26th, 2024) from 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Practice mindfulness, problem-solving, learn stress management and self-care. Discover community programs and services. This is not a therapy group.

Want to end an emotional overeating pattern? Join this 10-week program (April 11th – June 27th, 2024. *No class Apr. 18th or Jun. 20th, 2024) to break free from a diet mindset and develop a healthy relationship with food and your body! Join our dietitian on Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:00 PM and learn to eat in a balanced way without dieting.

Let’s get started on your journey to becoming a green thumb! Join us twice a month from 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Learn how to care for and grow plants in your home, balcony or window sill. Get advice on the plants you already have and receive supplies like seedlings, cuttings or seeds to get started. Start your plant-growing journey.

Empower yourself and get fit in a program designed for beginners. Join us on Mondays from 2:00 – 3:00 PM and Wednesdays from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Get a complete body workout, reduce joint pain, and risk of falls. The facilitator will conduct the group over Zoom and we will set-up a room to view the Zoom meeting at the Centre.

Did you attend our Intuitive eating groups? Join our dietitian on the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Connect in a judgement-free space to share and support each other’s journey to a balanced, guilt-free relationship with food.

A community health program series dedicated to people age 55+ who are looking to connect and learn with each other. Program sessions will cover topics including mental and physical health, exercise, nutrition, gardening, financial and digital literacy, art and photography, as well as fun, social engagement opportunities. The program starts Jul. 11th, 2024 running on Thursdays from 10:30 – 11:30 AM.

Meet your peers and learn about connection for personal wellness

July 18 – Brain Health and Aging:
What does it mean to have healthy brain as you age?

July 25 – Mental Health, Beyond a Diagnosis:
Learn about common diagnoses and how they shape our lives

August 1 – Cyber Security and Digital Awareness:
How to protect yourself when using computers and technology

August 8 – Nutrition for Healthy Aging:
What kinds of foods should we eat to help us be healthy as we age?

August 15 – Healthy Eating on a Budget:
How do we eat healthy and save money?

Struggling with shoulder pain or looking to prevent it? Join us on Thursdays from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Learn how the shoulders work, common injuries and how posture can impact your shoulders. Discuss strategies you can use to manage shoulder pain. Try shoulder strengthening and stretching exercises. Get tips on foods that provide sources of nutrients that build muscle and contribute to healthy joints.

As East End Community Health Centre’s (CHC) current Strategic Plan nears completion, we are kicking off the process to refresh our Strategic Plan for the next five years. We recognize the healthcare landscape has changed significantly since our last Strategic Plan and we are looking for your valuable insight and feedback on which elements of our Strategic Plan should continue and where there are opportunities for growth.

Tai Chi involves slow, gentle movements, postures, meditation and controlled breathing. Drop-in on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, you don’t need to pre-register. You’ll need to fill out forms when you attend for the first time. Improve strength, flexibility and balance. Relieve pain, enhance sleep and boost mood.

Boost your positivity, regulate emotions and foster self-compassion. Join us on Mondays from 5:30 – 6:30 PM for 8-weeks (Jul. 22nd – Sept. 23rd, 2024). Learn how to keep perspective through mindfulness-based practice, enhance your coping strategies and welcome change. Connect with like-minded folks in a safe-space. The facilitator will lead the group on Zoom. We will set-up a room at the Centre.
